Located about 20 miles east of the bustling metropolis known as Phoenix, Mesa is a beautiful city with an often-suffocating heat. With 500,000 people and stunning views that will take your breath away time after time, it may be hard to believe how small this place used to be!
Mesa is a small town going through many changes in its history. The population started slow and only had 300 people living there in 1878, but by 1883 it was already growing fast with 500 residents! What’s more surprising, though, are all these advancements made due to Mesa owning their utilities- they were one of few cities who could say this at the time, so we’re glad you did too!
The landscape of Mesa, Arizona, has transformed from its humble beginnings to a bustling suburban city. Laced with rich history and diverse culture, indeed, you will find something in this place for everyone who comes to visit!
Top Places To Visit In Messa
There are many places to see in Mesa, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top five!
Enjoy a game at Hohokam Stadium.
If you’re looking for an easy but still exciting way to get your daily exercise routine going, then visit Hohokam Stadium. This baseball park can hold up to over 12,000 people at once and has been home to several clubs in town since it was built back in 1999. You can catch games here if there’s a night game on that particular day! The stadium gets its name from the namesake indigenous group who inhabited this land before European colonization began around 1500 AD.
Take a stroll through Sloan Park.
In case you’re looking for something more low-key to do, then we recommend a stroll through Sloan Park. This ballpark is also home to the Chicago Cubs spring training and was opened in 2014. This expansive complex is home to 15 practice fields (including the main diamond), a clubhouse, and a 4,500-seat stadium. The Cubs are not the only team that uses this place- Arizona Diamondbacks and Oakland A’s use it for their minor league spring training!
